Peter Appel
Movingness & the Magic of Touch
Description
“Touch is the first language and the last, and it always tells the truth,” writes Margaret Atwood.
Touch is the first sense we develop in utero. It is the basis of all other senses. But since touch is everywhere in the body, we often do not listen to what it is telling us. It’s there, but still not there. The magic happens in the background.
During this workshop, we’ll use awareness, movement, and sound to make touch conscious and bring the magic out into the light. Among other things, we’ll explore:
• How am I touching myself?
• How am I touching other people?
• What happens when I consciously change my touch?
Now, touch is of course not only about the body. It’s also about the mind and how the mind receives or rejects touch.
How do I want to be touched? How do I want to touch another person? Can touch tell me something about myself that I don’t know? Can it bring me closer to other people and the world?
Will the world change when I touch it?
